There should be no play, but also no crushing of the hinge mechanism. Try loosening them slightly and then re-tightening gently.
• 2. **Hinge Alignment and Engagement:** * **Problem:** The seat and lid assembly might not be fully or correctly engaged with the hinge posts. Many soft-close seats have a quick-release or click-in system. If not fully seated, the mechanism might not function. * **Action:** Remove the seat and lid assembly from the hinge posts. Re-align the seat over the posts and press down firmly until you hear or feel it click securely into place. Ensure both sides are equally engaged.
